Navigation question
Car: Honda, Accord, 2006 - Back to Fix-It - Honda Accord Repair Manuals
Q.i have an 06 accord coupe v6 mt.. when ever i enter something in my navigation for example, Mcdonalds, the location they give me is 3000 miles away or if i enter Target the location is 400 miles away in a different state. i rarely ever find my destination using this navigation system. Im in maryland.
I already checked/done: everything in the manual. salesman couldnt figure it out. tried setting location to maryland but it still didnt work
More Info required I'm acuramstr. Do you have window tint? What version disc do you have? When in map mode does the car know where it is ( does it name the streets as you cross them?
Addition have window tint-black but it was doing it before the tint. Car does name streets when it passes them. Dont know what disc version i have. How do i find out.
Answer go to the trunk unit and eject the disc tell me the version # and label color( its written ot the top ) go to this screen hit navigation and scroll through till you find the gps screen and see how many satellites the nav sees. Heres some screen shots .
Addition dvd version is 4.31c its a white dvd. The nav shows 8 satellites.
Answer ok, if your sure the unit did this before the tint ( metalic tint is the #1 reason for nav problems) you have some things you can do first you can hard reset the system ( this clears everything including destinations and history and may ask for the nav code ) here's the screen to do that be sure to save the serial # if you dont have the nav code. I can get the code from this number .
next you have the earliest version of the disc the new versions have patches for known problems and new adresses ect. So i would update the disc anyways .
Addition hit the hard reset button entered the code. Still same problem. I entered the place name Mcdonalds and it gave me a location 218 miles away. Typed in target and the locations were everywhere hundreds of miles away. Typed in food lion and i got a location 4.4 miles away.
Answer looks like a software problem you can call alpine and ask if the updated disc corrects this problem (888) 291-4675,
Addition what if the new software does not correct this problem? What then?
Answer then you will have to take it to the local dealer and have them call honda's techline and see what they can do .
Addition i have no problem clicking accept however, my problem was not solved. And i wont buy a new disc at 180.00 to see if it will solve my problem.
Answer I dont blame you i wouldn't either. Heres what i found i went to two other 06 accords and an 07 tried to search for target and walmart both sent me to places thousands of miles away. I found a car with the new version and it listed target 3 miles away .
Addition Why does this problem exist? So the problem is definetly the software?
Answer The problem is there is a lot if info on that disc there are some quirks and there most likely always will be. The new software finds your local target. I just fix em.
