Replacing heater/air conditioner switch

Car: Acura, TSX, 2009     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Acura TSX Repair Manuals

Q.I received a automatic heater/air conditioner switch for Christmas and I was wondering if I could get it installed/disinstalled without compromising my lease with Acura. I have a 2009 Acura TSX. (It has many features, including heated seats. I do not know why that wasn't included but, especially in this cold weather, I would really like to have my car heated before I leave for work in the morning. The package says it is very easy to install; but, I am afraid to mess with a leased car. I would also like to know who does this installation, the appx cost (I don't think the switch was that expensive)and if there are any installers in the NJ Meadowlands area. Thank you.

More Info required Is this a factory install kit or an aftermarket kit?

Addition It was not installed with the car. I believe it was purchased from an online automotive parts dealer.

More Info required so it is not a genuine Acura kit correct?

Addition I don't think so-it is generic.

Answer ok there is a possiblity that it could void your warranty based on how it is wired to the vehicle. With a lease vehicle it could cause problems with the lease because the warranty would be in question.
if you need it installed I would try retailers like Best Buy or small radio install shops to see whom would be willing to install it and for what price.

Addition Could you be more specific? What department/number would I call at Acura (NJ)? What would BestBuy know about Acura leases?

Answer The number for Acura customer relations is (1-800-382-2238). you can call them and ask them concerning the Acura lease being affected by installing aftermarket accessories.
Best Buy is one of the places that probably consider installing the switch/seat kit if you decide to have it installed.

Addition Thank you. But can you answer 1 other questions? I called a local installation place and they said they could install the (although it's for the heater it's also called) alarm relay with starter switch for $150. He said it takes about 2 hours. He said it is OK with Acura because he will install and uninstall without any leaving any sign of the installation. Is that sound correct (Acura) and do you think that is a reasonable price (after all the kit was only about $50)?

Answer That sounds like a reasonable price to install an item that they are not particularly familiar with.
As long as Acura doesn't know the heater kit is installed then there would be no issue. And just before the lease turn in that you uninstall it, you should be ok
