Accord is randomlly stalling

Car: Honda, Accord LX, 1999     -    Back to Fix-It    -    Honda Accord LX Repair Manuals

Q.The 1999 accord lx 4 cyl. I just purchased is randomlly stalling. The Ignition switch has been replaced under the recall. It will start back up immediately after stalling. I find online possible main relay switch, bad coil, oxygen sensor or EGR port clogging. Do I have to start replacing parts to determine the cause?

More Info required When it stalls do you still have lights on the dash?

Addition This is my son's car and he says NO. Everything dies. It stalled on me this morning, I did not pay attention, lights were not on but tach dropped immediately, thats how I noticed it died.

Answer Sounds like ignition switch...
Even if it's been replaced it can happen again and Honda will deny the fix because they already replaced it. It's stupid of them but that's how the decided to handle it. My sister has a 99 and hers is on the third switch. The first time Honda replaced it, the second I replaced and she paid for it. The good news is it's only about $50 now for the part and maybe a half hour of labor.

Addition Is this something I can replace? I generally do most of my own work when possible. Brakes, alternators, starters, etc.

Answer You can and I can give you the instructions later today if you buy the part.
