    Electrical / Distributer/ Puzzle
by: djpeters on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 20:15 EDT
A while back, our CRX lost the rotor while being driven. The button was chewed up pretty god, and the distributer had to be replaced. Everything worked fine for a while. Then, it started "jumping" one day on the way to the airport. We got there, parked it, and when we returned, it started up and drove smothly home (40 miles).
Ever since then, it has started "jumping" when the engine heats up to normal operating temperature.

I have replaced, coil, igniter, spark plugs, wires. Still the same.

When it starts cold, it runs perfectly. Then when it gets hot, the check engine light comes on, and it "jumps," pretty violently.

The most recent thing I did was replace the igniter, but that did not work. It seemed to make the jumping some better, but not really. The check engine light still comes on.

Is it possible the distributer is bad again? If so, why would it simply fail?
