We own a 2000 2 Litre GTi VW Golf & hope someone can help us. After running up to normal operating temperature - if we stop the engine & try to restart - anywhere between 10 minutes & 2hours later - no joy -not a peep! After a while of engine turning you can smell petrol - so we know there is no lack of fuel!
We've tried all manner of starting techniques - but to no avail. In all other respects it runs well - no misfires & always starts when cold first time. Neither the VW dealer or an independent garage has solved the problem. Has anyone else had similar problems & can anyone suggest a solution - short of dynamite!
