    1999 GS-R Suspension Replacement/Upgrade
by: gedupont on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 14:11 EDT
I have a 1999 GS-R with 90,000+ miles and am getting ready to do the brakes (pads, calipers, slotted rotors) and also want to replace the shocks, springs. add polyurethane bushings, and possibly change sway bars (?) as necessary.

I will go with either the Koni Sport (yellow) or Bilstein HD shocks but I’m at a loss on the springs. All the springs that I have found lower the vehicle from .75 to 2 inches and I’m NOT wanting to lower the vehicle – only improve the handling at stock height settings +/- .5 inch.

Is there any manufacturer that offers a “sport” spring without the lowering effect?

What is the possibility of installing the Type R springs, shocks, and sway bars? Will they fit without any modification? Are they worth changing over to?

    Thanks for your input,
