Temp Gauge reading hot when engine is cold.

I have a 1988 Acura Integra LS. It had a small radiator leak. Added some stop leak. It took care of the problem. Next morning temp gauge jumped straight to hot when engine turned on. Replaced the thermostat. The temp gauge still jumps to hot, though the engine is cold. Any suggestions?
