emergency brake would not disengage

Q.2006 Honda Accord EX Coupe (6-speed). This morning (temp ~34 deg F), I was not able to drive my car because my emergency brake would not disengage (emergency brake handle had no tension until it was pulled almost all the way up). What is the likely problem/cause?

Answer I have yet to see a bad (corroded) E-brake cable so I suspect that one or both calipers in the rear are sticking.
There is a worm gear mechanism that operates the E-brake and they do sometimes get corroded and will not allow the brake to release.

Addition Would it be expected that the worm gear mechanism would corrode after (only) 26,000 miles?
How much should this cost to get repaired (dealership)?

Answer It should not be unless driven in salt/snow a lot.
The pads could also be stuck in the caliper causing a similar problem.
If a caliper is bad, its 165.00 plus an hour labor to replace each one that might be a problem. If a pad is just corroded to the caliper it will be an hour labor to disassemble and clean and lube both rear brake assemblies.
