replacing rear brake pads on 2006 civic EX.
Car: Honda, Civic EX, 2006 - Back to Fix-It - Honda Civic EX Repair Manuals
Q.replacing rear brake pads on 2006 civic EX. How do I retract the piston? It will not go back easily like the front did.
I already checked/done: I replaced the front brake pads and am now working on the rears.
This model has rear disks with the emergency brake cable acting directly on the caliber piston.
I have never seen one like this. It does NOT have a small drum brake for the emergency brake. Anyway, the piston does not want to go back in and I am thinking there might be some interaction with the emergency brake. Any tricks I don't know?
Answer The rear brakes require a special tool to turn and push in the piston at the same time, I have seen it done with a pair of pliers and a c- clamp.
Addition I thought it would be something like that. I will give it a try, thanks.
Answer Thank you and good luck.
