Accord's S switch is blinking

Car: Honda, Accord EX, 1991, 2.2 - Back to Fix-It - Honda Accord EX Repair Manuals

Q.I have a 1991 Honda accord, "S" switch BLINKING
everyone say TCM, I bought one off ebay 70 bucks
Same Problem with new rebuilt TCM The Accord EX Takes off in 2nd shift into 3rd and will not shift into 4th..
Only have 2nd and 3rd gear. My Speed-O works great.. I changed Transmission fluid a couple months back it was clean I Ran the car withOUT the TCM
still ran the same
No 1st and no 4th Gear I checked the circuit board it was very clean and dry and no damage what so ever.. Email I need HELP

I already checked/done: Replace TCU

Answer this is generally a sign of a faulty TCM. There is no such thing as a rebuilt TCM it sounds to me a s though you bought a fried TCM sorry...

Addition My wife has a 1991 honda accord also it works fine, I put her TCU in my car and My car still did not shift right and my "S' light still blinking
I did not buy a rebuilt TCU, Mine is not FRIED and nor is the one I bought..the TCU is not the problem.. The wife and I both have 1991 Honda Accords
Hers is black mine is White.

Answer at the lower right hand corner of the glove compartment just above the passanger kick panel there is a two pin connector with nothing plugged into it. If you jump the connector with a piece of wire or a paper clip then turn the key on the s light will blink a code. Note the number of blinks and the speed of the blinks and then let me know what you get and will see what the code is for you that is stuck in the tcm....

Addition I 1,4,1,2,3,7,8, Thats what I get out of my stock one, and I get the same code out of the one I bought off ebay.

Addition The code was 1,4,1,2,3,7,8.

Addition First 1 blink is a LONG blink,
4 quick blinks
1 quick blink,
2 quick blinks,
3 quick blinks
7 quick blinks
8 quick blinks
then starts over with
1 long blink
4 quick blinks
1 quick blink
2 quick blinks
3 quick blinks
7 quick blinks
8 quick blinks
then starts all over again.

More Info required ok let me see what the codes are....

Addition Now I only get the Code 8
Car still only runs in 2nd and 3 rd gear...
Even if you run the car without the TUC plugged in it will only run in 2nd and 3rd gear.

More Info required ok sorry i was away for the day i will look into code 8 for you...

Addition Code 8 says it is the disribitor
It is the transmission that is not shifting right
I checked the solenoids on the transmisiion everything is very clean..
The car will only drive in 2nd and 3rd gear still.

Answer actually code 8 in the tcu is for shift solenoid B. Here is the testing to determine if it is the solenoid or a broken wire....it is likely going to be a bad solenoid as it is rarly a broken wire

Now my daughter over heated her 1995 Honda accord
Crack the Radiator.. when it rains it poors.. So after I fix my car I will be asking questions when I am working on hers we replace the head gasket and resurfaced the head, put it all bak together, and now we we state it is burrs and runs smooth soon as we give it Gas and it warms up
The car stalls out
Thinking it is a sensor or some sort. Some day when my daughter blew up her car, her boy friend Oil seal let loose on his 1991 honda accord got that one fixed..
Like I said when it rains it poors.. O yea I payed 69 bucks for the solenoids off of ebay...

More Info required hopefully those fix it as they are much cheaper then a trans would be let me know how you make out...
